Health and Safety Reform - make sure you are heard

By NZISM Secretary

The National and Act Party Coalition Agreement contains a commitment to “reform health and safety law and regulations.” The Minister of Workplace Relations & Safety, Hon Brooke van Velden, has announced that she will undertake public consultation ahead of reform. The timetable for this consultation is unclear at this stage.

NZISM members are experts in health and safety and work to improve outcomes for workers and PCBUs every day. You know what good looks like and what needs to be done to improve the system. It is important that your voices are heard in the reform process.

NZISM will submit as part of the public consultation process and we encourage you to attend consultation meetings as well.

We have developed a survey which will inform NZISM’s conversations with Government on the changes. Your knowledge and insights will shape our response.

The survey asks for your opinion on:

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Current health and safety regulations
  • Potential gaps in the regulations
  • WorkSafe
  • System performance

Your time investment

Our multiple-choice survey is designed to be simple and quick and should only take 10-15 minutes. We welcome responses from both NZISM members and non-members.

Please invest the time now to help ensure we work in a system that has laws and regulations which are practical, effective and robust.
