Masterclass Series 2022
Scottish by birth, pragmatic by nature, John Green is a compelling speaker and a master at transforming health and safety concepts into effective operational practice.
He is one of the forefathers of Safety Differently, and has an uncanny knack of crystallising what we thought we knew... but didn't quite know how to express or put into action.
We believe everyone deserves access to this Masterclass series - and we've made sure they have.
Introducing Dr John Green
John Green is an internationally acclaimed expert in Safety II – an approach that changes safety management from “avoiding things going wrong” to “ensuring everything goes right”.
John has worked in the oil, gas, petrochemical, electronics, heavy engineering, construction and aviation sectors and has 38 years’ experience of industrial safety. An advocate of challenging traditional or orthodox thinking, he is recognised and respected as someone who does safety differently and as a major force for change in how industrial safety is delivered.
He is currently the Senior-Vice President Global HSSE at SNC-Lavalin, a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world.
John has held Executive positions with Motorola, British Airways, Alfred McAlpine, Laing O'Rourke, and he was Director HSE at Battersea Power Station Development Company, who were responsible for London's iconic £12 billion mixed commercial and residential project - the world's largest private mixed development.
He has spent periods living and working overseas with in the UAE, Iran, Europe, Hong Kong, parts of the USA and Australia. At Laing O’Rourke John was central to translating Safety II concepts into initiatives that significantly reduced injury rates at the firm’s Australian business.
John holds qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management, Change Management, Psychology, Law and Philosophy and has a Masters in Philosophy and Criminology.
