Our Client is in need of an experienced and qualified Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to lead the way from development through to implementation

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Executive Leadership Team in the development and implementation of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy and framework.

Reporting to the GM People and Culture, you will develop and maintain standards and compliance programs nationwide, as well as provide subject matter expertise/advice and direction at all levels.

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of best practice and starting from scratch with the development of strategy, following through with the creation of all systems and processes required to achieve success during the implementation phase – of which, you will take the lead.

This role will assist the ELT in providing positive assurance to the Board of Directors through regular audits and measurements of the HSW performance, ensuring the organisation is legislatively compliant in a timely and accurate manner, while also meeting agreed internal standards.

Duties

· Develop, implement, monitor and review an effective HSW Strategic Plan

· Collaborate and influence at all levels and with all business units

· Champion HSW best practice

· Ensure a shared commitment is embedded, enabling a positive HSW culture

· Create a solid safety management framework including all policies and procedures

· Educate and influence to ensure accountabilities and responsibilities are fully embedded and understood throughout the organisation

Skills and experience

You will have significant experience and proven success in providing the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy, as well as creating and implementing a safety management system that is fit for purpose and fully understood by all - ensuring accountabilities and responsibilities are accepted and imbedded throughout an organisation.

· Significant experience in a Senior or Management Health and Safety role

· Relevant tertiary qualification (min. Diploma)

· Highly collaborative and influential communication skills, both oral and written

· Solid understanding of legislation

· Experience in creating strategic direction and developing a safety management framework

· Proven ability working within a complex work environment, dealing with ambiguity and across all departments

· Good understanding of claims management and the return to work process

· Proven capability in achieving Health, Safety and Wellbeing performance improvement and leading cultural change

· Engaging and positive manner with a can-do attitude
