About the company

New Zealand’s largest specialist coal company, proudly providing employment within the region, the Rotowaro coalfield and opencast mine is the second largest opencast coal mine in New Zealand.

The mine is located in the Rotowaro coal field, an area that has had a long history of both open cast and underground mining. It was first mined in 1915 after a branch railway and a bridge were established over the Waikato River. The current opencast mine opened in 1958.

About the role

The Training Coordinator facilitates, monitors and evaluates all training activities onsite, to support the Training Needs Analysis, including compliance, competency and proficiency training and assessment. Leading a team of dedicated trainers, you will review and develop training matrices and the site training management plan and calendar.

Providing support to the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent, you’ll coordinate information for Toolbox Talks and provide information and assistance on any external or offsite training requirements.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have the following:

• Tertiary training qualification

• Previous experience in a supervisory role

• Experience in industrial workplace training

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Solid knowledge of the HSWA and regulations
