Reporting to the Site Production Manager, and indirectly to the Group GM Health & Safety, this newly revised role will be an integral member of our Inshore Factory Team based in Mt Wellington.

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead, execute and embed a high culture of zero tolerance and best in class health and safety practices.

The overall focus is to develop a site work plan that optimises health, safety, and compliance performance across the Bell Ave site. This includes working closely with the Group GM Health & Safety, Site Compliance Manager, and site leaders to deliver programs, initiatives, and changes that increase awareness, education and employee accountability for health and safety, ensuring an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement at all levels.

As a Health & Safety Champion you will be process driven, a natural communicator and trainer who works in a collaborative, open and integrated way. You will relish the opportunity to have accountability for a site health & safety program, and the ability to cultivate a highly engaged, and unified culture to collectively embed best in class H & S systems, processes, and practices.

With responsibility for leading and setting the direction for Health and Safety site performance; planning, monitoring, reporting, and achievement of KPIs and targets, you must have a proven background effectively influencing and embedding processes, programs and change initiatives, that delivered tangible and meaningful results.

Key focus areas:

• Develop and implement operational site H & S annual work plan, employee training programs, and robust governance and compliance systems.

• You will ensure that our health and safety systems and processes are effectively managed and functioning appropriately, identifying areas for improvement.

• Review site standard operating procedures and other H&S documentation, ensuring they are fit for purpose, and assisting with reviews and updates

• Assist managers with hazard audits, reviewing incidents and investigations.

• Delivering new employee H & S inductions and existing employee training programs

• Regular reporting, and communication of performance outcomes, and achievement against targets

• Provide advice to managers on risk and mitigation, carrying out safety observations and facilitating H&S training for them and their teams.

As a culture champion, you will inspire, encourage, and support managers in leading their teams through a program of change that embeds best in class health & safety practices; implementation of Safety Management System, tools and resources, coordinate and deliver training, and design initiatives that drive awareness, understanding and responsibility for health & safety at an individual level, and across all roles.

A big picture thinker, who is hands on you will quickly garner a sound understanding of business drivers and pressures.

What You Will Bring:

You must have sound knowledge and experience in operational health & safety requirements; ideally within manufacturing, FMCG and/or primary industry. A natural leader, who is agile and resilient you will enjoy the challenges and rewards of leading a site through transformational change, delivering results that surpass expectation and creating an environment of collective and individual accountability for safety.

A strategic thinker you will be experienced in developing workplans with clear objectives, workstreams, performance targets and activity, aligned to strategy. An operational doer, you will have a flair for presenting and delivering training workshops that connect with a diverse workforce, and accelerates employee understanding, and application of health & safety practices.

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to successfully embed behaviours and processes as well as create trusted partnerships, and respected relationships at all levels. Along with a reputation as a professional, who possesses a high level of integrity, and energy, it is essential you are organised and able to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.

Change management and project management skills and expertise would be advantageous.
