About this Role

The Health and Safety team works to improve the health and safety of Wellington Water’s workforce and looks after the health and safety framework, the systems, and the strategy.The Senior Health and Safety Specialist uses their experience, knowledge and skills to improve the organisation’s health and safety maturity.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • have a health and safety focused diploma, or relevant experience to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge
  • have a robust understanding of health and safety law, regulations and other requirements
  • have experience working in complex organisations with multiple locations and sub-cultures
  • have experience assessing complex health and safety issues, considering options, risk, benefits and mitigation strategies and making informed decisions
  • have the ability to translate complex ideas into practical solutions
  • have communication and relationship building skills so stakeholders feel well-informed and have a high level of trust
  • be able to modify and adapt your approach to people you are supporting, from senior managers, engineers, supervisors, skilled operators and a range of sub-contractors
  • have demonstrated successful experience in playing a key role in running of health and safety management systems
  • understand the detail, while focusing on the big picture
