Implement the company’s health and safety systems, providing advice and coaching to the plant management team.
About the role
Located in Lorneville, close to Invercargill, this position will have 1 direct report and influence thinking of all staff to drive improvement beyond compliance.
Ultimately your role will include keeping your finger on the pulse and utilising your amazing engagement skillset to provide positive and proactive leadership of Health and Safety at the Plant.
Duties will include everything from running investigations for critical events, plant recordable injury frequency rates, assurance audit completion rates, plant safety action plans, plant coaching frequency and ACC injury management timeliness. You will report to and have a close working relationship with the Plant Manager and be involved in operational decisions.
External key relationships with regulatory agencies, contractors, auditors and relevant training providers/organisations should be maintained in a robust and sustainable manner.
Skills and experience
You will enjoy being a self-motivated, self-starter - often working autonomously and with an energetic and proactive nature.
With a solid appreciation of the wider business objectives, you will integrate health and safety with a positive approach, and along with your excellent technical knowledge you will educate and engage at all levels to provide advice and therefore successful health and safety outcomes.
Sound knowledge of risk management principles, current Health and Safety legislation and best practice guidelines are part of your DNA – you will have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and have the drive, ambition and relevant qualifications in order to ensure success.
