Working alongside us as we go about our daily business, these teams are maintaining the network of Auckland motorways that keep us moving. Whether it’s maintaining the road, or mowing the grass, they’re keeping things tidy and safe for us every day.

About the role

These teams work on some of the regions most dangerous roads – as Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, you’ll ensure that the safety team provide practical, relevant and worthwhile guidance, resources and technical advice to do this work safely.

You’ll lead a team of 3, providing mentoring and coaching where needed, as you work together to identify risk within the business. In order to truly understand the work, you won’t be afraid to get out from behind the desk when needed and that may be at 4am, so flexibility is required.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have excellent mentoring and coaching skills, able to influence through engagement, not authority. Ability to prioritise and balance multiple workstreams is important and proficiency in presenting information and facilitating discussions with Senior Managers and Stakeholders is required.

• A relevant qualification combined with experience and ability

• Experience in leading/mentoring a team

• Exposure to the civil construction environment is beneficial

• Comprehensive health and safety technical knowledge

• Clean NZ Driver’s licence
