About the role

While the teams work along some of Auckland’s most dangerous roads - you’ll gain an understanding of how they get the job done by working with them in this complex environment.

By engaging rather than policing, you’ll use valuable data and worker’s experience to ensure these teams are actively monitoring their own safety. There are 350 permanent employees working around the clock. The safety team facilitate continuous improvement in task and workplace design, support innovation through expertise and develop policies and documents to ensure information is relevant and fit for purpose.

Key to this role will be your understanding of wellbeing, injury management and return to work processes.

Flexibility is a must, as work may include early starts, night shift and occasional weekends when required.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have excellent mentoring and coaching skills, able to influence through engagement, not authority. Ability to prioritise and balance multiple workstreams is important and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

Awareness of pre-existing conditions and how to prevent further harm in the workplace is important and you may come from a medical or occupational health background.

• A relevant qualification combined with experience and ability

• Experience in a civil construction environment is beneficial

• Clean NZ Driver’s licence
