About the role

Based in Christchurch (your choice of site) with flexibility of working from home on odd days, this role reports through to the Head of Human Resources NZ.

This is a role for a Senior Advisor stepping up or a Manager who hasn’t lost their passion for being proactive and visible on the shop floor. This is where you’ll spend a lot of your time, driving engagement, providing advice and guiding site workforce and leaders toward ownership of positive health and safety outcomes.

You’ll also provide the behind-the-scenes resources that contribute to the wider team’s successful safety management and that will include:

• Supporting 3 sites and well-established managers

• Driving culture change through visible leadership

• Strong contractor management

• Incident investigation and Injury management

• Influencing without authority

Skills and experience

You need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting alongside the workforce. You will have access to some resources for administrative data reporting but will be expected to be self sufficient and understand what it takes to manage safety in a high-risk manufacturing environment.

Credibility is earned and visible leadership a MUST.

Relationships are key in this role and it’s important that you make strong, cohesive partnerships across the sites. Successful candidates will have experience in the manufacturing/FMCG environment and working knowledge of ISO 45001, accident investigation. injury prevention, rehabilitation and return to work processes.

The sites operate a 2-shift system, so flexibility is required to ensure you are available to all staff as/when required.

• Tertiary qualification in health and safety

• Expert and relevant legislative knowledge

• Sound report writing skills

• Proactive and innovative approach
