Health, Safety and Environment Leader – Mt Eden, Auckland

Our client is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead the way to a proactive safety culture.

You will have experience at a reasonably senior level within a pure HSE role, with demonstrable success in assisting an organisation through to a behavioural safety based environment.

Your ability to articulate well in writing and verbally, as well as your educating, mentoring, influencing personality, will ensure success.

This role reports to the Pacific HSE Leader, based in Australia, and as a key leadership position the expectation is for strong HSE legislative knowledge and a real desire to add value to line management and the organisation as a whole, through raising awareness, understanding and competencies in line with business goals and objectives.

Your previous success in cascading the strategy across all levels of a national business, ensuring an excellent level of understanding and buy in is achieved, will provide the platform for success in this role.

Duties include:

· Lead, support and effectively manage the implementation of strategies that will improve Health and Safety practices and effectively manage risk

· Engage and educate the leadership team to ensure an excellent level of understanding and buy in regarding due diligence, obligations, accountabilities and ownership

· Measure, monitor and review, whilst also identifying areas for improvement

· Provide best practice solutions and advice as the subject matter expert

· Proactive and proficient management is required

Skills and experience include:

· Relevant tertiary qualification

· Lead Auditor, Train the Trainer, Investigation (ICAM or similar) preferred

· Significant experience in HSE within New Zealand or similar legislative framework

· Outstanding influencing and negotiation skillset

· Exceptional relationship management and communication skillset

· Experienced in change management and continuous improvement projects

· Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of legislation
