A large-scale civil construction and transport organisation are seeking a proactive and driven HSE Advisor for Auckland.

With over 50 years and 100 trucks in their fleet, this business has been involved in almost every major development in Auckland and North Waikato. Comprising bulk haulage in the roading and construction sectors and providing civil construction services, machinery and aggregate supply for the construction and roading industries through sister brands.

About the role

Reporting to the GM of Health and Safety, and working within a small team, you will have a can-do attitude and a genuine passion for HSE, working closely with site managers, operational teams and contractors – building robust relationships throughout operations. An ability to coach, guide and influence is essential. This is a great opportunity for a forward thinking, dynamic safety professional, committed to achieving HSE excellence.

It is essential that you have a strong understanding of HSE Legislation and familiarity with contemporary safety practices. Prior experience with civil construction or a similar high-risk industrial environment is essential.

Travel to various sites around North Waikato and Auckland will be required and a work-use vehicle will be provided.

Duties

• Provide high level professional advice to frontline workers, developing safety culture and awareness

• Build and develop effective, collaborative and productive relationships across the organisation

• Lead the growth and transformation of HSE performance

• Coach leaders and operational managers on safety best practice

• Report all Hazards and ensure effective control measures are implemented/maintained

• Be a visible and active team member

Skills and experience

• 3-5 years civil construction or high-risk industry experience

• Experience with ISO 45001 and Tōtika an advantage

• Ability to work autonomously

• Recognised tertiary level safety qualification

• Current, full and clean NZ driver’s licence is essential.
