Our client is owned by an organisation who have 20,000 members who affiliate to 22 mandated hapū and 19 marae in the Eastern Bay of Plenty region. Their role is to sustainably maximise economic benefits for their people of Ngāti Awa.

As the commercial arm for the organisation with General Managers who focus on a diverse portfolio such as Property, Tourism, Farms, along with office-based support staff, the organisation has approx. 100 people and are very mindful of the need to proactively manage their Health, Safety and Wellbeing risks.

About the role

This position will play a critical role in progressing all areas of HSW in a highly proactive and line-led manner in regard to policies, processes as well as assisting to identify and address gaps, demanding a strong level of knowledge and experience in safety management, together with excellent interpersonal skills in order to coordinate effectively across the various departments.

Aiming to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all staff, contractors, customers, visitors, and the Iwi, we anticipate this position will be highly effective with creating and implementing robust safety strategies, in an innovative, practical and inspiring way, to ensure buy in to role responsibilities and accountabilities, throughout the organisation.

Skills and experience

We anticipate you will have sound knowledge and experience in a similar organisation, and able to clearly articulate examples of your success with building a proactive, line-led culture.

Relevant qualifications, along with your excellent communication skillset and ability to mentor and collaborate, utilising your strong problem-solving skills, will enable the organisation to progress in the best possible way.

Strong ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks, being detail orientated and outcome focussed is highly desired, along with your ability to innovate and ensure practical/proactive outcomes are achieved.
