About the company

With their Head Office in Albany this company covers a multitude of civil, construction and earthwork projects within the Auckland/Waikato region, with a site focus throughout the region and a team of approx. 130 staff - they take pride and care in their team and environment.

About the role

Reporting into the Health and Safety Manager and working with site leaders you will set the tone for safety and ensure delivery on commitment for these construction projects - to doing it safely or not at all.

Key to this role is to drive a positive safety culture - one that actively promotes a safe environment for all workers, sub-contractors and other personnel, through monitoring, supporting and providing advice, as well as assisting with risk mitigation in line with best practice initiatives.

We anticipate applicants will have an energetic, can-do attitude, with a strong ability to influence and ensure credibility.

The role will be largely field based, so you will need to be able to operate independently and with confidence. Ideally you will have had site based construction experience working with and around bulk earthwork machinery.

Duties

• Proactively monitor health and safety behaviours and assist to improve

• Foster a genuine health and safety commitment

• Promote a work environment where risks are both identified and mitigated

• Injury management and return to work processes

• Coach, mentor and enhance understanding at all levels

Skills and experience

• Practical working knowledge of legislation in a construction/civil environment

• Relevant (or working towards) Health and Safety qualifications

• Effective communicator and influencer who can guide others

• Strong IT/administration skills

• Self-managing and self-motivated

• Positive, energetic, and outgoing/friendly personality
