About the Role

This is a crucial role at the airport and as such you will operate with the utmost integrity. You will be responsible for the operation and continuous improvement of the airport's CAA-certified Safety Management System.

An additional, and crucial, component of this role will be to manage, operate and maintain the airport's established UNICOM aerodrome information service. This will include periods in the tower as the UNICOM operator and training of other UNICOM operators. You will ensure compliance with CAA legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and in-house procedural manuals and plans.

Other key requirements of this role are:

Ensuring issues and/or operational or administrative anomalies are identified, solutions developed and superiors notified

Managing conflicting demands between stakeholders and resolving conflicts.

Monitor and promote aviation safety and compliance on the airfield

Developing and maintaining compliance documentation

Managing agreements and contractual obligations

Skills & Experience

Your background will include experience in an operational aviation environment, in particular safety management/investigation, and a good knowledge of aviation legislation. Previous exposure to CAA safety management principles and practices will put you one-step ahead of the pack.

Other skills you will bring to this role:

* Excellent time management and attention to detail.

* The ability to form and maintain good working relationships with key users

* Ability to prioritise workloads

* Advanced knowledge of the CAA rules and regulations, in particular CAR Parts 12, 91, 100, 101, 102 and 139

* Advanced knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015

Access to the tower is via three flights of stairs which will require the successful applicant to be medically fit for employment.

A requirement for this role is that you MUST hold, or have held within the last 10 years, an Air Traffic Services Licence or Commercial Pilot's Licence. You must also hold, or be able to obtain, a CAA Senior Person status.
