DVML is Dunedin's premier conference organiser, venue and event services company who are proudly responsible for operating Forsyth Barr Stadium, The Dunedin Centre, and the University of Otago Oval. DVML hosts events ranging from international sport and entertainment through to small conferences and meetings.

This newly created role has evolved in line with the Dunedin Venues Management Ltd growth and strategic direction. Reporting to the Asset and Compliance Manager, this key role will be responsible for the development and implementation of DVML’s Health, Safety and Wellness framework, whilst driving a positive and informed safety culture. A key focus on delivery of the role will be ensuring legislative compliance and effective risk management for all events and activities, across all venues under the management and control of DVML.

Further key areas of responsibility will include;

* Manage, monitor and review the organisational safety review cycles and audits

* Ownership of the DVML safety management and software systems

* Provision of technical health, safety and wellness advice and service

* Continuous Quality Improvement and ensuring comprehensive reporting frameworks

Suitable applicants are likely to meet the following criteria;

* An in-depth understanding of relevant legislation and best practice in operational health and safety performance and compliance

* A demonstrated strategic and commercial acumen

* Advanced interpersonal and influential skills combined with a proven background in influencing and driving behaviour and culture at all levels of an organisation

* A relevant qualification in Health and Safety or equivalent experience

DVML employs around 43 FTE staff and has contracted service providers in catering, security and cleaning who facilitate the delivery of successful events. Ideally you will have at least 3 years experience in a Health and Safety Advisory role, along with sound knowledge and experience interpreting and advising on Safety, Health and Wellbeing legislation and best practice.
