Ken Clarke, Compliance Manager at Responsible Care NZ (formerly NZ Chemical Industry Council), will be guiding us through a helicopter view of the New Zealand chemical industry from 2014 to the present day, including:
A Q&A session will follow.
Ken's career journey started as an electrical engineer in telecommunications. At this time he also built what he refers to as his 'second career' - the NZ Volunteer Fire Service. It was here that he developed a passion for chemical transport known as Danger Goods (DG) Transport and he pursued study in this area. He went on to work for NZ Fire Service in a full-time role, working his way up from regional to national roles.
He later joined the NZ Chemical Industry Association as their technical compliance manager and hazmat emergency technical advisor.
His expertise is now highly sought after and he splits his time between various Standards committees, and Govt and industry liaison committees. If rare spare moments he also undertakes whole of lifecycle assessments which extend into all aspects of chemical stewardship.
Ken isn't in demand just in New Zealand. He provides emergency advice internationally and ventures abroad to help with "seriously big stuff" coming home with stories and learnings that, if we are lucky, he will share with us during this webinar.
