Join the Wellington Branch as they welcome presenter Hugh Norriss from Farmstrong who will discuss using social identity to increase wellbeing and H&S outcomes.

Farmstrong was established in 2015 as a proof-of-concept rural wellbeing programme, drawing on action research methodologies and a set of principles informed by wellbeing science and social science.

These principles are:

Extensive data collected from the programme show that applying these principles as strategies, has increased psychological wellbeing and reduced accidents and injuries



Bio

Hugh has held a range of senior management and executive roles in the mental health sector over the last 25 years, including Chief Executive of Wellink Trust and Group Manager Mental Health Services, Capital and Coast District Health Board.

For 7 years he was Director of Policy and Development at the Mental Health Foundation where he led the development of national and regional mental health promotion programmes including workplace mental health and wellbeing initiatives. He is also currently the content advisor for the Farmstrong rural wellbeing programme and the initiating project manager for Waihanga Ora, a residential construction wellbeing and injury prevention programme.
