The aim of the Spotlight project is to understand the desirability, feasibility and viability of a health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) sector group in the local government sector and its supply chain. The project will develop insights through several workshops and background research between October 2022 and March 2023

NZISM members are invited to join the project working group that will explore these objectives. NZISM can provide two members to the working group. There is also an opportunity for a further 3 or 4 members to join the “Flex Squad” that supports the working group by providing subject matter expertise as/when needed in the exploration.

This 45 minute briefing workshop has been organised to give more detail on the project and what is involved in taking part as a working group member or in the “flex squad”. The two working group members nominated will be invited to join the rest of the group for an initial session on 4^th or 5^th October.

The workshop will use a Mural board to outline the project's plan of work. Please make sure you can join the call with access to a suitable screen to follow on the Mural board.

The project will

• Understand the current state of the LG HSW ecosystem along with what a future state might look like.
• Develop an understanding of the opportunity in terms of value and efficacy of a Local Government sector group’s programme of work.
• Collaborate with LG executives, elected officials/Mayors, procurement managers, LG Health, Safety & Wellbeing managers, worker representatives and supply chain representatives to leverage their knowledge and experience
• Develop and design the entity to deliver proposed recommendations and solutions for improving HSW in Local Government.
• Honour the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to ensure we deliver solutions that benefits all citizens, including Māori.
• Build an outline strategic investment case to the local government community
