About the role:

As the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe delivery of complex commercial construction projects. Working closely with project teams, leaders and subcontractors, you'll provide practical advice and coaching, strengthen health and safety capability, and help embed best practice across multiple sites. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone who enjoys building strong relationships, influencing positive behaviours and driving continuous improvement.

Duties:

• Partner with project teams to provide practical HS advice and coaching.
• Build strong relationships with project teams and subcontractors to promote best practice. 
• Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations. 
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and other safety communications. 
• Monitor compliance with legislation, company standards and project requirements. 
• Drive continuous improvement by mentoring teams and strengthening HS capability. 

Skills and experience:

You'll be an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor with a background in Tier 1 commercial construction and a proven track record supporting complex vertical building projects. You'll bring a pragmatic approach, strong influencing skills and the ability to build credibility with project teams, leaders and subcontractors in fast-paced construction environments. 

• Senior HS experience within Tier 1 commercial construction. 
• Experience on complex vertical building projects. 
• Strong knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation. 
• Proven ability to coach, influence and build strong relationships. 
• Experience managing subcontractor safety in principal contractor environments. 
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
