About the role

Working within a small team and reporting to the Director of Health and Safety, you will operationalise strategy by providing trusted advice, coaching and practical support to business units.

Partner closely with and leaders to embed effective risk management and build local ownership of health and safety. It is heavily engagement-focused, supporting culture change through influence rather than enforcement.

The position balances reporting, committee involvement and on-the-ground safety conversations in complex environments.

Duties

  • Partner with 1–2 business units to embed HS strategy.
  • Coach and influence senior leaders to own implementation.
  • Conduct safety walks across operational areas.
  • Support investigations, risk frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and experience

You will be an experienced Health and Safety professional with strong foundational knowledge. Broad industry exposure is valuable, ideally including hazardous substances and laboratory or technical environments. You will work confidently alongside senior leaders, supported by excellent communication and influencing skills. Adaptability and the ability to coach leaders through change are critical to success.

  • Level 6+ relevant tertiary qualification essential
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Able to work collaboratively and coach senior leaders to own implementation
  • Registration with a relevant professional body is preferred.
