About the Role

Based in Christchurch and reporting to the Group Health and Safety Manager, the Senior Health and Safety Advisor plays a key role in strengthening and embedding health and safety systems across the organisation. This role is accountable for the ongoing effectiveness and audit readiness of the ISO 45001–aligned Health and Safety Management System, working closely with operational teams to deliver practical, sustainable outcomes.

This is a high-impact role suited to a senior practitioner who is confident providing clear, direct advice while remaining collaborative and open to others’ perspectives. You’ll partner with site‑based Health and Safety Advisors, operational leaders and support functions to uplift capability, close compliance gaps and support consistent performance across the business.

Duties

  • Lead the review and standardisation of Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines in line with ISO 45001
  • Support and coach site Health and Safety teams and Site Managers to drive consistent performance
  • Conduct and support internal audits across sites in line with the Health and Safety Assurance Plan
  • Lead and mentor investigations using the ICAM methodology
  • Analyse Health and Safety data to identify trends, lead indicators and improvement opportunities

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Proven capability in leading investigations, audits and compliance activities
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001–aligned management systems and document control
  • Relationship-led approach, with the confidence to be direct while maintaining trust and credibility across all levels
  • Ability to interpret and communicate safety performance data clearly
