About the company

An established, multi-site industrial organisation is seeking an experienced Safety & Environmental Advisor to join its growing Health, Safety & Environment team. This is a hands-on advisory role supporting manufacturing, fabrication and corporate operations across New Zealand.

Reporting to the Head of Safety & Environment, you’ll play a key role in embedding safety and environmental strategy, supporting leaders at all levels and ensuring robust systems, compliance and culture are in place.

About the role

This position is primarily focused on safety, with responsibility for supporting environmental initiatives across the business. You’ll work closely with operational leaders and site teams to drive continuous improvement and deliver meaningful, practical outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice on health, safety and environmental matters across multiple sites
  • Supporting the development, implementation and embedding of the HSE strategy
  • Leading and supporting incident investigations using ICAM methodology
  • Actively supporting and maintaining ISO certification (including ISO 9001, 14001 and 31000) and audit readiness
  • Working with leaders to improve risk management, safety performance and accountability
  • Supporting wellbeing initiatives
  • Contributing to safety management system improvements and effective use of SMS platforms

This role involves regular, scheduled travel within New Zealand.

About you

You’re an HSE professional who enjoys operating in complex, operational environments and influencing across all levels of an organisation.

You’ll bring:

  • Solid experience in a safety and environmental role within an operational or industrial setting
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation
  • Proven experience supporting ISO-certified management systems and audits
  • Demonstrated capability leading ICAM investigations end to end
  • The ability to build trust and influence managers, leaders and frontline teams
  • A practical, down-to-earth approach with strong communication skills
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
