Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security & Wellbeing, this is a senior leadership role with delegated authority and the opportunity to step into the Head’s remit when required.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping safety strategy while strengthening and maturing a structured critical risk framework across the organisation. Partnering closely with executive leaders, critical risk sponsors and people leaders at all levels, you will elevate ownership, capability and confidence in how risk is understood and managed.
Operating within a highly accountable environment, you will contribute to governance reporting, lead structured risk reviews and ensure systems align with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and recognised best practice frameworks. Just as importantly, you will bring safety to life – translating technical concepts into practical insight, building trusted relationships and fostering a culture where responsibility for health and safety is genuinely shared.
This role blends strategic influence with technical depth and authentic engagement, ensuring health and safety is not only compliant but meaningful, embedded and future focused.
• Mature and oversee enterprise critical risk framework
• Partner with senior leaders and risk sponsors
• Lead investigations and incident review processes
• Prepare ELT and board level H&S reporting
• Coach leaders to strengthen risk ownership
• Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation and frameworks
• Experience embedding critical risk programmes
• Advanced investigation capability (ICAM or equivalent)
• Confidence presenting at ELT and governance level
• Professional registration is desirable
