About the role 

If you enjoy bringing order to complexity, creating practical systems and helping people embrace new ways of working, you'll thrive in this role. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will implement, maintain and continuously improve Health and Safety systems and documentation, supporting compliance and alignment across the wider business. Working closely with the wider business group, managers and employees to roll out new systems, you will also provide training and guidance and ensure changes are successfully embedded. Regular day travel throughout New Zealand is required, with occasional overnight stays. 

Duties 

  • Develop, implement and maintain practical Health and Safety systems and documentation. 
  • Support the rollout of new systems through effective communication, training and change management. 
  • Conduct audits, reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance. 
  • Build strong relationships to align Health and Safety systems across the wider business group. 
  • Support contractor prequalification, monitoring and governance processes. 
  • Maintain accurate Health and Safety records, registers and incident management systems. 
  • Champion a positive safety culture through engagement, coaching and practical support. 

Skills and experience 

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Health and Safety systems, documentation and change management, along with the ability to influence and engage people at all levels of the business. We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and resilient - someone who remains positive and focused when faced with challenges, can confidently navigate resistance to change and is able to keep momentum moving and not easily dissuaded when implementing change across the business. 

  • Proven experience developing and implementing HS systems and documentation. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and gain buy-in. 
  • Resilient, persistent and confident managing change and overcoming resistance. 
  • Energetic, approachable and relationship-focused with a collaborative style. 
  • Organised and methodical, with excellent project and stakeholder management skills.
