About the opportunity

We are looking for two ambitious Health, Safety & Compliance Business Partners to join our clients’ Health and Safety team – one based in Christchurch, the other in Auckland.

These are not roles where you accept status quo. We are looking for people who want to challenge how things are done, bring new ideas and help shape a more effective, practical approach to safety and compliance.

If you’re curious, forward-thinking and motivated to make a real impact, this is an opportunity to step into a role where your ideas and energy will be valued.

About the role

You will partner closely with operational teams, providing coaching, guidance, and assurance to strengthen safety performance and critical risk management.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be visible in the field, working alongside frontline teams and leaders to embed practical, workable safety solutions. You will also step back to identify opportunities for improvement and help drive smarter ways of managing risk.

Your focus will include coaching, assurance activities, incident investigations and supporting compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Coach frontline leaders on safe work practices and critical risk controls
  • Conduct site visits, inspections and assurance activities
  • Verify effectiveness of critical controls and support action close-out
  • Assist with incident investigations using ICAM methodology
  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements and risk frameworks
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams and stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and safety initiatives
  • Support communication, engagement and safety culture development

About you

You are not just technically capable – you bring energy, curiosity and a desire to improve how things are done.

You will be comfortable working in operational environments but can also step back and think differently, identifying better ways to influence behaviour, manage risk and embed sustainable solutions.

You are proactive, confident and enjoy building relationships that enable you to influence and support teams effectively.

What you will bring

  • Experience or exposure to health and safety in operational environments
  • Understanding of critical risk management and safety systems
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Confidence engaging with frontline teams and leaders
  • Interest in continuous improvement and innovation
  • NEBOSH (or working towards) and NZISM membership (preferred)
  • Experience in transport, freight or logistics (advantageous)

What we are looking for

Across both roles, cultural fit is just as important as capability. You will:

  • Take ownership and follow things through
  • Build strong, credible relationships
  • Communicate clearly and confidently
  • Be proactive and solutions-focused
  • Have a genuine commitment to improving safety outcomes

Why this role?

  • Opportunity to shape and improve safety practices
  • Work in a collaborative, operational environment
  • Build capability and grow your career
  • Be part of a team open to new ideas and fresh thinking

How to apply

If you’re ready to challenge the norm, bring new ideas, and make a meaningful impact in safety and compliance, we’d love to hear from you and welcome your application including your CV and cover letter. If you have any questions, please call Suzanne on 021 10 10 691 quoting reference #1599707.

There are no visa/sponsorship opportunities available with this role. This is a permanent position, therefore only applicants with full, valid, permanent working rights will be considered.
