About the company

This established infrastructure and utilities services organisation delivers complex essential services across the upper North Island. Operating in technically demanding, high-risk environments the business supports major industrial and commercial clients through long-term partnerships.

Well regarded for operational capability and practical delivery, they combine strong field leadership with a clear focus on critical risk management, system improvement and learning. Safety is embedded into how work is planned and executed – not treated as a standalone function.

About the role

This is a visible, hands-on leadership role embedded in a busy operational environment. The role leads and mentors a team and you’ll partner closely with the Regional Manager and operational leaders, supporting teams working in complex, high-risk environments where critical controls matter.

The role is also externally facing, with regular engagement alongside a key client. You’ll need to be confident influencing at a strategic level while maintaining strong relationships on the ground.

Contemporary safety thinking is a genuine priority. Experience applying Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles is highly valued – particularly the ability to facilitate learning teams, explore work-as-done, understand system influences on performance and design controls that build capacity rather than simply enforce compliance.
