They also play another important role, which is utilising the assets and their expertise to boost investment and employment in the Far North for the benefit of communities and local businesses.

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-trust role where you’ll work closely with the Board, SLT and operational teams spanning construction, marina/boatyard, aviation and infrastructure environments.

The HSW Manager will have the autonomy to influence culture, lift capability and make a visible impact across a diverse, fast-growing business. This role provides the expertise to ensure a high level of health, safety and wellbeing standards are in place and the safety culture is uplifted.

Responsible for all areas of HSW Risk Management and corporate governance issues – reporting to the COO, you will maintain and refine the existing HSW framework, drive improvement to the agreed levels and hold overall control of the HSW processes. You will support business units to take the initiative with regard to highly proactive implementation, as well as learning lessons from investigations, audits and the like.

Duties

  • Spend real time on the ground, coaching and guided managers
  • Support safe work practices across construction, boatyard/marina, airport and infrastructure operations
  • Provide practical tools and help build capability
  • Deliver high‑quality, timely reporting that supports informed decisions

Skills and experience

We anticipate you will already be working at a relatively senior HSW level, or ready for a step up – you may be thinking of relocating to the Far North and just awaiting the perfect opportunity.

This is a great opportunity to play a lead role, taking on the responsibility of all HSW elements, including monthly reporting to the Board and CE. Happy to roll your sleeves up, do the doing and also work well at the leadership table.

Supporting the understanding through influence and engagement, you will enjoy building and fostering a culture that enables all staff to take ownership of health and safety.

  • Relevant qualification in Health and Safety (Diploma level preferred)
  • Experienced with investigations, audits, reporting etc.
  • Outstanding communication skillset required, with a natural ability to build relationships and influence
  • Experience in industries with real operational risk
  • Energetic, outcome focussed and able to work autonomously
