About the role
As Health and Safety Specialist, you will play a key role in enhancing workplace safety, compliance, and wellbeing across a large-scale, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Safety, Health, Hygiene and Environmental Manager, you’ll be part of a team of safety and occupational hygiene professionals. You will partner with leaders, influence culture, and support continuous improvement initiatives, including risk framework development, ICAM investigations, and preparation toward ISO45001 certification. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where your ability to build relationships and drive engagement will make a tangible impact.

Key responsibilities
• Partner with leaders and teams to promote a proactive health and safety culture
• Lead and support incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement in risk management frameworks and systems
• Deliver engaging safety training and toolbox sessions
• Support emergency management, crisis response, and compliance audits
• Collaborate closely with H&S Advisor and SHHE Manager on key projects

Skills and experience
• Graduate diploma or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of NZ Health and Safety at Work Act and related regulations
• Proven experience within manufacturing, industrial or similar environments
• CMSE qualifications are an advantage
• Demonstrated ability to lead risk assessments and investigations (ICAM or 5-Why)
• Confident communicator able to influence and engage across all levels
• Registration with an industry body and ongoing CPD is expected.
