About the role

Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this role leads the health and safety function across a busy operational site. You’ll lead a small specialist team while partnering closely with operational leaders to strengthen safety capability and embed practical risk management across the organisation.

This is a visible leadership role combining governance, strategy and strong on-site engagement across a complex operational environment. The operation experiences seasonal peaks and a dynamic operational rhythm, creating an environment where strong safety leadership and visible presence across site operations are essential.

You’ll contribute to governance reporting and work closely with senior leadership to help shape the organisation’s safety direction.

Duties

• Lead and evolve the health and safety management system
• Strengthen leadership capability and safety ownership
• Oversee risk management, incident learning and improvement
• Lead and develop the internal Health and Safety team
• Provide reporting and insight to senior leadership

Skills and experience

• Relevant health and safety qualifications
• Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation and risk management
• Experience working in complex operational or high-risk environments
• Background in manufacturing, logistics, processing or similar sectors
• Ability to influence leaders and drive behaviour change
• Strong communication skills and ability to build strong relationships in operations
• Registration with a relevant professional body and/or undergoing CPD is desirable
