Accreditation FAQ

To apply for Practitioner or Professional Accreditation with NZISM, you should follow these steps:

  1. Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet the requirements for the level you are applying for. These include:
  2. Being a current General or Student Member
  3. Having passed a tertiary course on the Recognised Qualifications list.
  4. Having the required practical experience hours at the necessary level.
  5. Complete the Online Accreditation Form:
  6. Fill out the Accreditation Form (you will need to be logged in as a member to access this).
  7. Ensure you complete the form in full and upload necessary support documents such as your CV, Qualification certificate or transcript, and work examples (if you are self-employed).
  8. Pay the required application fee.
  9. Review Process: After submission, your application will be assessed by the Accreditation Committee. You will be notified whether your Accreditation has been confirmed within 15 days.

Student members are eligible to apply for Accreditation but must continue to meet the requirements for Student membership.

Please allow up to 15 days for your application to be processed and assessed by our volunteer Accreditation Committee.

Please provide all support documentation up front. If we need to request additional information from you, this will delay the timeframe for processing your application.

You need to join as a General Member and apply for accreditation from this start point. (This includes if you are eligible for reciprocal accreditation from IOSH or Saiosh.)

Once you begin working in New Zealand and meet the relevant criteria, you can progress through our Accreditation Pathway to higher membership grades.

Please note:

  • Members without NZ work experience will need to complete HSR Rep Stage 1 training before applying for accreditation.
  • There are several providers offering this course online or in person.
  • A copy of the course completion certificate will need to be included with your application.

(This requirement does not apply to members applying for reciprocity based on IOSH or Saiosh accreditation.)

No, logging CPD only becomes compulsory once you are an Accredited member
