Geoff has a background in industrial chemistry and is tertiary qualified in chemistry, health, safety, environmental and quality management. He has over 50 years' working experience including operating in forest products, paint, roofing products, government science, tanning, construction, and veterinary and human health product manufacturing sectors. In all these roles he has been involved in health and safety and has seen the OHS sector grow in importance and complexity.
Since 2011, Geoff has run his own health and safety consultancy, specialising in hazardous substance management and machinery risk assessments. His passion is to see health and safety fully and fundamentally integrated fully into all workplaces.
Geoff’s qualifications include qualifications in chemistry from NZ and UK (AUT) plus diplomas in Environmental Management (Open Polytech) and Health and Safety Management (NZIM). He has been an active member of NZISM since 2008 and is an early member of our Peer Support Network.
Admitted as a lawyer in Western Australia, Desai has been working in OHS since 2010 in the transport, construction, hospitality, and oil and gas sectors.
During this time, he has been responsible for serious incident investigations, developing and implementing training programs, policies and OHS management systems, and has acted as an OHS expert witness in legal matters. Desai has worked on significant projects across New Zealand and Western Australia.
Desai’s experience in OHS is broad, but he has a particular interest in safety system efficacy, investigations, ethics, and continued professional development.
At the current time, he is GM Health & Safety at Brosnan Construction.
I love helping people and businesses, and the way I've been able to do that for the past seven years is through my Health and Safety Consultancy business. Previously to this, I found myself in roles where I was lucky enough to work and engage with people across many different cultures, businesses, and industries.
Since starting my consultancy business I have become a Health and Safety Professional with NZISM, and a foundation member on the HASANZ Register. I am an accredited Safe Plus Assessor and a volunteer on the Peer Support Network for all NZISM members.
