IMPAIRMENT POLICY FATIGUE
1. PURPOSE

Pāmu has a key safety expectation that all workers will turn up ready for work in the
right state of mind.

The aim of this policy is to set out Pāmu’s approach to impairment risks from fatigue
which may impact a person’s ability to work safely and effectively.

2. APPLICATION1

This policy applies to “workers”, who are defined as:

All employees of Pāmu.

All other workers (which includes, but is not limited to, all contractors, subcontractors,
service providers, and agency temps), who undertake tasks for Pāmu or on Pāmu
controlled properties.

3. VALUES

Pāmu’s values that underpin this policy:

Genuine Meeting our HWS expectation to turn up to work in the right state of mind,
fatigue free. Includes honest, open reporting of hours worked and trust between
managers and workers on fatigue issues.

Bold Recognising the conditions that cause fatigue and being prepared to change
work and lifestyle factors before fatigue becomes a problem. Being prepared to call out
fatigue issues.

Grounded Getting the job done without exhausting our people in the process.

Shoulder to shoulder - Looking after each other, on and off farm. Speaking up about
fatigue in workmates when seen.

4. DEFINITIONS

Impairment. Being impaired means being physically or mentally unable to perform
assigned work functions safely due to fatigue.

Fatigue. Fatigue is defined as a state of physical and/or mental exhaustion. It is more
than feeling tired and drowsy. It can result from prolonged working, heavy workloads,
insufficient rest and/or inadequate sleep.
