Are you a people-focused safety leader who thrives on building capability, influencing stakeholders and helping operational teams perform at their best?

We're partnering with a well-established, multi-site organisation to recruit a National Training & Safety Manager. This is a key leadership role responsible for supporting managers across the business, strengthening safety culture and developing the capability needed to drive long-term success.

Working closely with operational leaders and senior management, you'll be a trusted advisor, coach and mentor, providing practical guidance that helps safety and leadership development become part of everyday decision-making.

About the role

This is a highly visible position with responsibility across multiple locations. You'll spend time both in the office and out with operational teams, building relationships, understanding challenges and helping leaders develop their capability.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Partnering with managers to strengthen leadership capability and safety performance
  • Coaching and mentoring leaders through change and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identifying training and development opportunities across the business
  • Providing practical advice and support across health, safety and workforce capability matters
  • Supporting the development of a positive, engaged and high-performing safety culture
  • Working collaboratively with operational teams, senior leaders and wider support functions

About You

We're less interested in finding someone who can simply manage systems and more interested in finding someone who can influence people, build capability and support leaders to succeed.

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience in a senior health and safety leadership role
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to coach, mentor and develop leaders at all levels
  • Experience designing, implementing or supporting training and capability initiatives
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
  • Experience supporting operational or field-based workforces
  • Confidence navigating change and bringing people on the journey
  • Diploma level qualification in workplace health and safety
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence

Experience within construction, mechanical services, engineering, HVAC, fire protection or a related industry would be advantageous, although we're open to candidates from broader operational environments.
