Hosted by the Auckland branch and presented by Yvette McGibbon from Auckland City Council, this presentation explores how Auckland Council’s wellbeing strategy supports kaimahi wellbeing through a socioecological approach — recognising that wellbeing is influenced by organisational systems, workplace relationships and individual support.
Using this model, the discussion shows how organisational settings, policies and ways of working shape interpersonal experiences and enable effective individual wellbeing interventions. Drawing on practical examples from within Council, it highlights how strong foundations at the organisational and team level help reduce harm, encourage early intervention and improve access to support.
The session invites a shared understanding of wellbeing as a collective responsibility, where sustainable outcomes are achieved when individual actions are reinforced by supportive relationships and enabling organisational environments.
