2026 is shaping up to be a momentous year for health and safety reforms.

The Health and Safety at Work Amendment Bill is currently before Select Committee and NZISM has been leading the charge to improve it.
There have also been substantial changes to WorkSafe’s operating model and work plan and there’s lots going in the guidance development area. And the parties are gearing up for an election as well.
Jeff has been working on all of these issues and will demystify them, answer your tricky questions, talk about what NZISM’s doing to influence change, and how you can get involved and get ready.

Jeff Sissons has been CEO of NZISM since February 2024. He has 20 years’ experience in employment law, public law and health and safety. Jeff has worked as General Counsel at the Counsel of Trade Unions, and as Senior Ministerial Advisor to the Minister of Workplace Relations and Safety and other Ministers. Jeff has also worked as a health and safety lead and was a 2020 HASANZ Scholarship recipient and has just received his Post-Graduate Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety from Victoria University.
