
Psychological safety refers to a climate where people are comfortable being and expressing themselves, the belief you won’t be punished for making a mistake and knowing that others will have your back.
Having a climate of psychological safety is the foundation stone for many things in the workplace including preventing bullying, supporting staff mental health, incorporating diversity, and increasing productivity.

Dougal has been working as a clinical psychologist for over 25 years and is the Principal Psychologist at Umbrella Wellbeing. He is also an Adjunct Teaching Fellow at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington in the clinical psychology training programme, where he contributes to the training of the next generation of clinical psychologists.
Dougal has a passion for making psychology more accessible to the general public and has worked with the media in print, radio, and TV. His skill at translating expert psychological knowledge into accessible learning experiences contributes to Dougal’s training expertise, and his ability to support individual clients to make effective changes.
