Online Meeting: Governance SIG: Re-examining Governance Pathways for Safety Leaders

In conversation with a leading New Zealand director

Join an open and candid conversation with Sheridan Broadbent, one of New Zealand’s most experienced directors to transition from a strong commercial background into governance, including across high‑risk and safety‑critical industries.

This is not a traditional governance “how‑to” session. Instead, Sheridan challenges a question many safety professionals quietly grapple with: Do you really want to be on a board, or would you have more impact as a Chief Executive or senior decision‑maker?

Drawing on real boardroom experience, Sheridan will speak openly about the realities of influence from the board table, and why for some people, leading from the executive seat may be the more powerful pathway to shaping safety outcomes.

If you’re early in your governance journey, already on a board and questioning where you add the most value, or considering whether your skills and “superpower” are better used governing or driving the ship, this session will help you critically reflect on where you can make the greatest impact from a safety and leadership perspective.

An unmissable conversation for safety practitioners thinking seriously about influence, leadership, and career direction.
