Emerging Safety Leaders
Supporting those taking their first steps in their health and safety journey
The Emerging Safety Leaders (ESL) network was developed to support and encourage practitioners and students taking their first steps down the health and safety career path. It is open to everyone - you don't have to be an NZISM member to join.
Through the ESL you can meet other network members in your local area and also join us for online events. The ESL organises webinars designed specifically for young practitioners. You can see past webinars in our Resources section.
To keep abreast of what we have got going on, make sure you are:

We will send you an email every month or so to let you know what's happening in your area. You can also see what's coming up on the Events section at the bottom of this page.

Luke McCallum
Hi there, I lead the ESL network in Auckland. I’m a passionate learner and an emerging professional in the health and safety industry.
With a background as a sports massage therapist working alongside high-performance athletes, I bring a unique perspective to workplace health, safety and wellbeing. Currently pursuing my Master’s degree at Victoria University, after completing the graduate diploma at SIT, I’m on a journey soaking up knowledge and learning from those around me.
Like many of you, I’m new to the health and safety Industry and I see value in connecting with those around me to share learnings.
