Waikato Branch April 2018 Update

Hi Everyone,

What a brilliant seminar last night!!

Huge thanks to Fiona Adam, our local WorkSafe Hazardous Substances Inspector, who ran a fantastic seminar last night, giving us an overview of the Hazardous Substances Regulations and an invaluable chance to ask questions of her – and there certainly were no shortage of questions!

We are so lucky to have a supportive WorkSafe team here in the Waikato who are keen to get involved in our branch. That was evident again last night when Fiona offered up her business card to all attendees to ensure she could provide support and answer questions following the seminar…those business cards certainly flew out the door, good luck Fiona!

(Scroll down for the remainder of 2018 event dates!)

For those of you who were able to attend, a copy of Fiona’s notes will be available to you shortly, and Kim will be sending out your attendance certificates via email.

We had a number of new members come along last night, which is great to see!

For those of you who came along but are yet to complete your membership, OR you brought along someone who now wants to join, OR if you know of someone else who could benefit from joining us - click here for the link to the membership application information.

There is also plenty of membership information on our website - https://www.nzism.org/ (which has had a rebrand and is looking pretty impressive!)

Don’t forget the Annual Planner is sorted for the year!!

All events will be held at the same venue (The Link Community Centre. Cnr Te Aroha St and River Rd, Hamilton), here are the dates to check you have them pencilled in:

  • May 16th – 11.30am
  • June 27th – 5.30pm
  • August 8th – 11.30am
  • Sept 19th – 5.30pm
  • Nov…Christmas Function…TBC

***Note, lunch functions start with networking from 11.30am, presentation from 12pm to 12.45pm, lunch until 1.30pm

**Note, evening functions start with drinks and nibbles from 5.30pm, presentation from 6pm to 6.45pm, networking until 7.30pm

An invite will be sent out this month for our May event…this is our AGM, however we’ll be keeping that short and sweet and handing the microphone over to Greg Dearsly (NZISM National Manager) who is coming down from Auckland to talk us through the upcoming changes to NZISM, in particular the organisational structure. He’ll be staying for lunch to chat with our members and answer any questions you have around NZISM, HASANZ, Accreditation, the new leadership roles etc…a great opportunity to hear what NZISM is doing for its members.

Look forward to catching up with all of you then.

Stay safe,

Angie Williams - Branch Manager
