The Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), GRI’s independent standard-setting body, is reviewing its GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety reporting standard in 2017, and is now soliciting feedback from experts and reporting practitioners on the proposed updates to the Standard.

The Standard is being revised to reflect internationally-agreed best practice and to align with recent developments in occupational health and safety management and reporting practice, including the upcoming ISO 45001 standard, ILO instruments, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

A multi-stakeholder Project Working Group was formed to develop content for the review of GRI 403, and has proposed notable improvements in the draft, such as a greater emphasis on hazards and the application of the hierarchy of controls, improved methodologies for calculating injury and illness data, and new leading indicators looking at the extent to which workers are covered by management systems and have access to occupational health services.

The exposure draft of GRI 403 is now available for public comment from 10 August to 9 October 2017. Any interested party can give feedback on the clarity and usability of this Standard via the GRI consultation platform (see: http://consultation.globalreporting.org/griportal/...
) You can view this webinar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwnrxDZAhJQ) recording to learn more about the proposed changes to the Standard and how to give feedback, or you can attend one of the free live webinars (https://www.globalreporting.org/information/events...) or in-person workshops (https://www.globalreporting.org/standards/gri-stan...)
