We'd like to say a big congratulations to Mike Guerin who takes the helm as Hawke's Bay Branch Manager and is looking forward to leading his local H&S community:
"NZISM has given me so much insight since joining 3 years ago. It’s been great to have likeminded people to call and bounce ideas off or ask for help with areas of H&S I’m not familiar with. I have big shoes to fill but I’ll do my best to keep up the fantastic work Pani has been doing since the branch began."
BIO: Mike started his H&S journey working for the Water Corporation of Western Australia, where he worked in a group conducting Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV). A pivotal moment was having to prep his ROV crew to be sent to Pike River during the tragedy. Whilst there he became an OSH Rep and trained in Dogman; EWP; forklifts; working at heights; confined space entry; atmosphere monitoring; and asset condition assessment. Since returning to NZ, Mike has been the H&S Coordinator for Central Districts Pest Control, taking the company through ISO45001 and winning industry awards for their H&S systems. He has just completed his GDPP OHS (with Distinction!) and started his own consultancy company, GSI Safety.
Thank you for joining the Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) network.
We hold various online and face-to-face events throughout the year and if one occurs near you, we would love to meet you in person.
LinkedIn - Please make sure you join our LinkedIn group to stay connected and on top of our planned webinars and events. We encourage you to post anything in the WISE group page that you think other network members would find useful or inspiring. Please don't be shy. The more we reach out, the more we connect with each other, and the more we can help each other on our journeys.
We might send you the occasional email but our web page on the NZISM website is always the best place to go for an overview of what's coming up in the WISE calendar.
Best wishes,
Margaret van Schaik
