By NZISM Secretary

Kia ora koutou members and supporters,

This month members of the Operations Committee and myself have been working our way around the country to the branch AGMs to present on the proposed organisational restructure and rules changes. It has been really lovely catching up with a lot of you and seeing the fabulous events that the branches are running regularly around the country. A number of new Branch Managers and Branch Committee members have been elected this year and I want to extend a warm welcome to everyone and remind you that you can use the NZISM volunteer logo on your email signatures and business cards when you are involved in NZISM in a volunteer capacity – see the logo here

For those of you who may have missed the presentation, you can find this here. You will see the changes to the structure and the core elements that are being amended in the constitution as a result of these changes. We will be sending out the full updated proposed rules in a few weeks with the notice of the AGM document. This will give everyone a chance to review the rules in their entirety before we vote on these changes at the National AGM in Christchurch on 8 August. For those of you who are unable to attend that meeting, you can submit a proxy vote and details on this will be provided in the AGM notice.

Greg and I have arrived in Sydney for the SIA conference today where we are meeting SIA executives to discuss increasing opportunities to work together closer. Developing great international relationships with our networks, such as the Emerging Safety Leaders (ESL) and the Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) will ensure these networks are set up for success. David Clarke, CEO of SIA will be joining us next week at the Safeguard Conference and the NZISM Networking event on Tuesday 28th May, so if you are in Auckland come along and join us at 5.15pm to catch up with friends and colleagues and meet David who will be delivering a short presentation at the event. Drinks and nibbles will be provided, please contact Nicole to rsvp on admin@nzism.org. Next Monday night is also the WISE Event, and more details can be found here. If you are interested in coming along please register with Margaret on margaret@vshealthandsafety.co.nz. I look forward to catching up with you there.

We have a lot going on around the country and Todd Conklin tickets are still available, this event will be the one H&S training day you don’t want to miss this year. Its not often we get a speaker of Todd’s calibre here in New Zealand, if you haven’t got your ticket yet, click here to secure your spot at the early bird price until 31 May.

Finally thank you to those who have renewed their membership for the year, we have great plans ahead and we look forward to bringing you an exciting range of speakers, incredible learning opportunities and space to connect with colleagues and friends around the country. For those of you who haven’t yet renewed, there is just over a week to go before your membership will lapse, to ensure you retain your accreditation and HASANZ registration please renew before the end of the month.

I would like to thank the ongoing support of an incredible range of corporate supporters and partners. Your contribution enables us to deliver a range of benefits unmatched in the health and safety industry and goes a long way in growing the competency of health and safety practitioners and professionals in New Zealand.

Thank you all and have a great week.
