Kia ora koutou members and supporters, Thanks to everyone who took time out to respond to our annual survey. We have had such a great response and we are working through all of the comments and suggestions to ensure we capture everything. This is the most important activity for us in terms of ensuring the decisions we make align with the expectations of our members. We read every comment to learn from our mistakes, to do more of what you love, and to drive a focus on the things that matter to you.
We know one of the leading reasons our members belong to NZISM is to network. Unfortunately, this year’s global pandemic has meant that our local branches have been heavily restricted in what they can deliver at a local level. We hope that next year we will be able to get back to more face-to-face engagement, creating opportunities for you to learn with and listen to your peers.
I was lucky to be able to attend the Northland Branch Christmas event in Whangarei recently and it was such a pleasure to see familiar faces and meet new members. I walk away from these catch-ups with a renewed focus, someone always shares something I can apply to a project or an activity we may be undertaking. This year the simple act of reconnecting has been incredibly valuable and I can’t wait for the upcoming Auckland Branch Christmas function to do more of the same.
Be sure to head along, no matter where you are, no matter how long it has been since you last attended a branch catch-up. All the branches have something on offer and your local committees are already working hard to plan a stellar event schedule for 2021 and I know they would love to see you!

Thank you for joining the Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) network.
We hold various online and face-to-face events throughout the year and if one occurs near you, we would love to meet you in person.
LinkedIn - Please make sure you join our LinkedIn group to stay connected and on top of our planned webinars and events. We encourage you to post anything in the WISE group page that you think other network members would find useful or inspiring. Please don't be shy. The more we reach out, the more we connect with each other, and the more we can help each other on our journeys.
We might send you the occasional email but our web page on the NZISM website is always the best place to go for an overview of what's coming up in the WISE calendar.
Best wishes,
Margaret van Schaik
WISE Chair
