Kia ora koutou members and supporters. Today marks the end of the 2022 renewal period for NZISM membership and if you haven’t renewed you will find yourself unable to access the many wonderful benefits we offer. You will still receive the newsletter because it's important to us that you continue to be aware of the issues impacting the industry, but you won't be able to purchase tickets to the upcoming Masterclass with Dr John Green, or access the FREE upcoming webinar with Nippin Anand, until you renew.
The end of the renewal period is also when we track our membership numbers and I am absolutely delighted to announce that the NZISM whanau has peaked at just over 2,500 members!
When I joined NZISM just shy of 5 years ago, there were 1,400 members. Industry estimated we had approximately 5,000 health and safety professionals and practitioners operating across Aotearoa, and I believed that if we could offer the profession real value and tangible benefits that we could expect at least 50% of those working in health and safety to belong to their professional association. It has taken time, effort and dedication from a tremendous group of volunteers, employees and leaders across the organisation, but we have met that milestone and I want to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to the success we can all be proud of.
This year also marks another milestone in the history of NZISM, incorporated as a society in 1972. We are celebrating our Golden Jubilee, our 50 year anniversary. We will be commemorating these milestones at a networking event at the end of day 1 of the Safeguard Conference in Auckland this month, and we would like to welcome our members and supporters along to celebrate with us. For catering purposes, please register.
I look forward to catching up with friends and colleagues at Safeguard next month and hope you can join us to celebrate our milestone of 50 years and 2,500 members!
Ngā mihi,
Selena Armstrong
NZISM CEO
Thank you for joining the Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) network.
We hold various online and face-to-face events throughout the year and if one occurs near you, we would love to meet you in person.
LinkedIn - Please make sure you join our LinkedIn group to stay connected and on top of our planned webinars and events. We encourage you to post anything in the WISE group page that you think other network members would find useful or inspiring. Please don't be shy. The more we reach out, the more we connect with each other, and the more we can help each other on our journeys.
We might send you the occasional email but our web page on the NZISM website is always the best place to go for an overview of what's coming up in the WISE calendar.
Best wishes,
Margaret van Schaik
