Health and Safety Advisor x 2 – Penrose

Seeking experienced Health and Safety Advisors with project experience to design and implement efficient safety systems and processes

The company

Our client is one of New Zealand’s largest shared service organisations, supporting health services in the community by providing IT, finance, supply chain, procurement and customer services support. Proud to be a driving force in healthcare, they are also proud of their people and seeking to build and enhance their health and safety team.

The role

With an initial focus on project work, this is an opportunity for hands on, practical Advisors to be involved from the ground up in implementing solid systems and processes in all areas of the business.

There are 2 vacancies, and the successful applicants will have a can-do attitude, with the experience to work autonomously as required, while sharing knowledge and expertise with internal and external stakeholders.

As project work is completed and systems put in place, these roles will evolve and become responsible for the successful continuation of an efficient and practical health and safety management system.

Duties

* Provide advice and tools to assist the business with health, safety and wellbeing responsibilities

* Conduct audits and investigations as necessary

* Assist and coach business units in implementing safety initiatives

* Assist with administering return to work and rehabilitation programmes

* Organise and attend health and safety meetings

* Support and guide health and safety representatives

* Administer health and safety systems

* Plan and coordinate safety training and inductions

Skills and experience

* Minimum Level 4 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

* Solid experience with working knowledge of relevant legislation

* Proven experience of developing systems and policies

* Demonstrated track record in driving a successful safety culture

* Current full drivers licence

* Membership of a professional body is preferable (e.g. NZ Institute of Safety Management or NZ Safety Council)
