Ko wai koe? - Who are you?

You will have a professional health and safety tertiary qualification and/or at least seven years' experience in a senior safety role within a complex organisation. Alongside acute business acumen, you will enjoy understanding organisational issues and challenges, and have the ability to think strategically and generate innovative ideas and turn them into action.

The role requires you to apply your experience of transforming organisational safety and wellbeing culture with a working knowledge of developing and implementing a Safety and Wellness Management System. Key to the role will be your ability to establish relationships at all levels of organisations and across suppliers and contractors. You will inspire and engage, using your exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills to persuade, collaborate, influence and challenge the proactive management of our safety culture.

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

To embed a new safety and wellness management system, the role requires a health and safety expert who can drive transformational change and deliver operational solutions to support business units through the transition. Much of the role will drive engagement and influence senior leaders to adopt a 'just culture' in relation to safety, while building a culture of high performance and compliance. The role spans end-to-end safety and wellness management across staff, students, contractors and visitors.

The role requires a person who can establish themselves as a trusted partner across safety and wellness, providing high level advice, guidance and coaching to leadership teams and staff across the University on governance, management, and compliance, and closing the loop by continually tracking, monitoring and enhancing safety and wellness performance across the organisation.

Salary will be in the range of $114,000 to $124,000 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.
