Short Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Manager Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) who can support us in embedding a positive HSW culture and developing our HSW capability for our volunteers and employees, at a national level.

We are seeking a dynamic leader to provide strategic guidance, drive continuous improvement and take a positive outcome orientated focus to our HSW management system. This crucial role involves working across the whole organisation from the front line to leadership, sharing and learning practice with other similar organisations and leading the development of key HSW documents and communications.
As the Manager of our HSW function, you will lead the HSW team, manage daily operations and oversee the implementation of our comprehensive HSW workplan. Your leadership will be essential in fostering an inclusive and positive HSW culture throughout the entire organisation. In this role you will:
• Lead the HSW team, including day-to-day management, coaching and development of direct reports.
• Develop, implement and manage the HSW work programme.
• Lead and promote the provision of expert and strategic HSW advice.
• Deliver assurance and confidence through effective management of HSW resources, embedding a HSW culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
• Provide accurate and regular dashboard reporting on HSW performance to the Executive Leadership Team and the National Board.
• Develop and deliver in-house training and education sessions on a range of HSW topics aligned to key HSW projects, and support direct reports to contribute to delivery of in-house training.
• Lead or have oversight of HSW audits and investigations.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure consultation on HSW projects, policy and activities across the organisation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, including the HSWA 2015, regulations and ISO standards.

To be successful, you will have:
• At least 6 years experience in a Senior Advisor or Health and Safety Manager role.
• Experience in developing, implementing and managing a HSW work programme.
• Experience in providing HSW advice to those at executive level.
• Ability to build strong working relationships.
• Highly effective communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels to successfully achieve results, including presenting information to a variety of audiences.
• Ability to work in a complex working environment, deal with ambiguity and across departmental functions.
• Attention to detail and HSW reporting experience.
• Working knowledge of the HSWA 2015, relevant ISO Standards and experience in dealing with WorkSafe NZ.
• Empathy with humanitarian causes.
