About the role
Reporting to the Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing and managing and developing a small team of dedicated HSW Delivery Advisors, you will provide sound and timely on the ground operational and technical HSW advisory support (with a focus on dynamic and critical risk), to the Delivery Director, managers, staff, and our external contractor chain and iwi partners we work with and alongside.
Navigating the complexity of the work they do and environments they work in, building and developing trusted relationships is key. You will bring a naturally curious approach and your ability to coach and influence - to build and increase HSW capacity and capability. You will implement effective and consistent HSW behaviours and practices across the Delivery function to improve HSW outcomes.
As part of the wider Greater Wellington HSW team, you will also contribute to developing fit for purpose accessible and easy to use HSW tools and resources and undertake assurance and project work as required.
Skills and experience include:
You will be a solution focussed hands-on senior safety practitioner with a solid 5+ years practical experience in an operational HSW role, preferably in dynamic and higher-risk environments. You will have a good working of knowledge of HSW legislation and HSW best practice.
To be successful you will need to:
• Apply good time management skills and be comfortable working independently and part of a team. You can adapt, prioritise your work and easily pivot to meet changing demands.
• Bring a solid working knowledge and practical application of HSW risk strategies in dynamic and higher risk environments
• Develop highly effective business partnering relationships, internally and externally as a trusted advisor
• Solid influencing skills and the ability to engage with workers to effectively coach and influence change to improve HSW practice and outcomes across all levels of the business
• Understand the dynamics of working with contractors and contractual relationships
