This position is recognised as both a Safety Advisor and Trainer role, requiring the ability to work practically both internally and with external clients

The role

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the role will involve a balance of both regular Safety Advisor activities combined with training and organisational planning as well as reporting of regional activity.

It will require strong time management skills and will provide robust support to the Health and Safety Manager and Regional Operations Manager in driving consistency across activities and training capability.

The role will have a mix of both on site advisory /auditing work as well as providing training. You will need to be a confident trainer and enjoy up-skilling people from all backgrounds.

Role and responsibility

* Provide industry based HSE training to NZQA standards on site as required

* Assess, develop and implement effective on-site safety management systems and practices

* Assist Project Managers and/or Supervisors conduct task analysis and Risk Assessments

* Site inspection with Supervisors and Manager

* Facilitate tool box meetings on a variety of topics and provide mentoring and assistance to site management to develop meeting schedules

* Assist with implementation of incident/accident reporting systems and carry out investigations if requested

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of training trends and health and safety application within the civils industry

To be successful in this role, you will have

* Minimum Level 4 OHS Certificate

* Level 4 Workplace Training and Assessment is advantageous

* A practical background in the civil or residential construction industry

* A solid understanding of health and safety principles and practices pertaining to construction supported by a solid knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation

* Proven training and presentation ability

* Keep up to date with changes to legislation, new Codes of Practice and best practice guidelines and how they relate to the construction industry

* Great communication skills at all levels and people management skills

* Ability to use Microsoft Office products to support administration requirements of the role
